XTB review 2026: Proprietary xStation trading with stocks, ETFs, and multi-asset CFDs

XTB (WSE: XTB) is a Warsaw-based hybrid agency and market maker forex broker founded in 2004. Licensed by the FCA, CySEC, DFSA, and KNF under multiple licenses, it trades on xStation 5 and the XTB App with Standard accounts. Serves retail and professional clients across 60+ forex pairs, stocks, ETFs, indices, commodities, and crypto CFDs.

What is XTB?

XTB is a publicly listed multi-asset broker that began operations in 2004 and is headquartered in Warsaw, Poland. The group uses a hybrid agency and market maker model, meaning execution arrangements vary by product and legal entity. XTB S.A. has traded on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 2016. According to the firm's preliminary first-half 2026 figures, it recorded 1.49 million active clients.

The group operates through regulated entities and branches across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Its product mix now extends beyond forex into stocks, ETFs, indices, commodities, and CFD products. A CFD (Contract for Difference) tracks an underlying market without transferring ownership of that underlying asset. The broker's current retail technology centers on xStation 5 and the XTB App.

Which regulators license XTB?

XTB's regulatory structure uses separate companies for different jurisdictions rather than one global license. The review scan on September 19, 2026 confirmed several registrations through regulator records and official disclosures. FCA means the UK Financial Conduct Authority, while CySEC means the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission. DFSA refers to the Dubai Financial Services Authority.

  • KNF (Polish Financial Supervision Authority): XTB S.A., authorization references DDM-M-4021-57-1/2005 and DRK/WL/4020/15/24/57/1/13.
  • FCA: XTB Limited, Firm Reference Number 522157 in the United Kingdom.
  • CySEC: XTB Limited, Cyprus Investment Firm licence 169/12.
  • DFSA: XTB MENA Limited, reference F006316 in the Dubai International Financial Centre.
  • FSCA (South African Financial Sector Conduct Authority): XTB Africa (Pty) Ltd, FSP 49970.
  • Bappebti (Indonesia's Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency): PT XTB Indonesia Berjangka, licence 003/BAPPEBTI/SI/08/2020.
  • CMF (Chile's Financial Market Commission): XTB Agente de Valores SpA, registration 216.
  • CNMV (Spain's National Securities Market Commission): Spanish branch registration 40.

Eligible UK investment claims can fall within Financial Services Compensation Scheme protection of up to £85,000 per person per authorised firm. Cyprus clients can fall within the Investor Compensation Fund framework where eligibility conditions are met. Protection depends on the legal entity holding the account, not the XTB brand alone. Client-fund segregation is also disclosed for regulated retail entities.

The international site discloses XTB International Limited under Belize FSC licence 6442514. This review could not independently confirm that licence in the regulator's public records on September 19, 2026. A Seychelles FSA claim under SD148 was also not independently confirmed during the same scan. Those two entries therefore remain unverified rather than being treated as confirmed regulatory protection.

KNF issued a final decision on August 28, 2026 maintaining a PLN 20 million administrative fine against XTB S.A. The decision concerned client appropriateness assessments, target-market procedures, and related investment-firm obligations during earlier periods. The regulator published the final notice on September 1, 2026 (source: KNF, September 1, 2026). The fine does not remove the group's other verified licences.

Trading platforms

Trading platforms center on the proprietary xStation 5 environment and the XTB App. A proprietary platform is trading software developed or controlled by the broker rather than licensed from MetaQuotes or Spotware. Current retail onboarding does not include MT4, MT5, or cTrader. Web, desktop-style browser access, iOS, and Android access cover the main device categories.

The absence of MT4 and MT5 matters for traders dependent on MetaTrader Expert Advisors or existing MetaTrader workflows. XTB instead keeps charting, order entry, account management, market information, and portfolio functions inside its own ecosystem. The platform model also reduces the need to move between separate investment and CFD interfaces. No general retail trading API is included in the current platform setup.

Account types

Account types have been simplified around the Standard account in the current retail offer. Standard CFD pricing places most trading cost inside the spread, the gap between the bid and ask price. Current UK documentation states that CFD markets on this account do not carry a separate execution commission. Real stocks and ETFs follow a different commission schedule.

The account structure varies by legal entity and residence because regional rules determine available products. Older educational pages can reference Pro or Islamic arrangements that are not part of the current Standard-account offering. Account eligibility therefore needs to be checked against the local XTB entity serving the customer's country. The legal entity also determines leverage limits and compensation arrangements.

What is the minimum deposit?

The minimum deposit is $0 for the international entity, meaning XTB does not impose a fixed initial funding threshold. UK documentation likewise states that there is no minimum deposit for opening and funding the standard account. The practical minimum depends on the smallest permitted transaction and its required margin, which is collateral reserved to support a leveraged position. A deposit can therefore be too small to open a chosen trade even when account funding has no formal minimum.

Deposit and withdrawal methods

Deposit and withdrawal methods include bank transfer, payment cards, Skrill, and Neteller in applicable jurisdictions. Availability and payment-provider charges differ between regional entities, so one global fee schedule does not apply to every customer. International pricing shows separate charges for some electronic wallets while bank funding can involve charges imposed by the sending bank. XTB requires funding sources to be held in the client's name.

Withdrawal conditions also depend on the entity and account currency. Current UK pricing lists withdrawals as free, while other regional entities can apply different thresholds or processing rules. Bank processing can continue after the broker has released funds. The relevant regional fee table therefore controls the actual payment cost rather than the group-level marketing page.

Tradeable instruments

Tradeable instruments include more than 60 forex pairs alongside equities, ETFs, indices, commodities, and crypto CFDs where locally permitted. Forex CFDs cover major, minor, and exotic currency combinations. Stock access can include both real shares and share CFDs depending on the jurisdiction. UK materials also describe access to thousands of listed shares across multiple international exchanges.

Real stocks and ETFs differ operationally from CFDs because the investor holds an investment instrument rather than a leveraged derivative position. CFD instruments allow both long and short exposure but introduce financing and leverage costs. Crypto availability is especially jurisdiction-sensitive because European and offshore rules differ. Instrument lists should therefore be read together with the account's legal entity.

Spread and commission structure

Spread and commission structure starts from 0.5 pip on the international entity's Standard account. A pip is the conventional small price increment used to measure most forex movements. Standard-account CFD pricing generally embeds transaction cost in the floating spread. Actual spreads widen or narrow with liquidity, volatility, instrument type, and trading session.

Real stock and ETF pricing uses a separate structure. Current UK terms charge 0% commission until monthly turnover exceeds the equivalent of EUR 100,000. Volume above that threshold carries a 0.2% commission with a minimum charge of EUR 10. Currency conversion can add 0.5% when the traded instrument and account use different currencies.

Leverage and margin requirements

Leverage and margin requirements depend heavily on the regulatory entity serving the account. Leverage means controlling a position larger than the cash margin committed to it. Retail leverage under European and UK rules reaches up to 1:30 on qualifying major forex instruments. The international entity can provide leverage up to 1:500 for individual clients.

XTB documents a 50% margin level at which automatic position closure can begin under applicable CFD conditions. This mechanism limits further account deterioration but does not remove market risk. Negative balance protection is available for retail clients under several regulated entities, including the UK and Cyprus structures. Protection is not presented as universally identical across every company in the group.

How does customer support work?

Customer support operates through regional phone numbers, email addresses, and live chat rather than one universal contact channel. The group publishes dedicated teams for the United Kingdom, Poland, Cyprus, Dubai, Chile, Indonesia, and several European branches. Some regional help centers describe 24/5 support coverage. A single verified global language count is not disclosed.

Regulation and account issues should be matched to the entity named in the customer agreement. A UK customer therefore contacts XTB Limited, while a Dubai account falls under XTB MENA Limited. This distinction also matters when submitting a formal complaint. Contact details and complaint procedures can differ between branches even though they use the same brand.

Demo account and onboarding flow

Demo account and onboarding use the XTB App and Client Office alongside the xStation environment. Current international documentation describes the demo as a permanent account for eligible users, with one demo account allowed per client. Cyprus materials likewise state that the demo does not expire under the current arrangement. Regional conditions can still differ, so the local help center controls.

Live onboarding requires identity verification and suitability information before full trading access is activated. The broker can request proof of identity, financial information, or other compliance documents during this process. Funding follows account approval and uses the payment methods available to that entity. The 2026 KNF enforcement decision makes the firm's historical appropriateness procedures relevant when reviewing this onboarding process.

Should you trade with XTB?

XTB's main trade-off is broad regulatory coverage and proprietary technology against a platform model that excludes current MT4, MT5, and cTrader access. The group has operated since 2004, is publicly listed, and maintains several independently verifiable regulatory registrations. Its Standard account has no fixed minimum deposit, while leverage and investor protection vary by jurisdiction. The legal entity behind the account therefore matters as much as the brand name.

The August 2026 KNF decision is a documented regulatory issue rather than an allegation from an anonymous review source. It resulted in a final PLN 20 million administrative fine concerning earlier investment-firm procedures (source: KNF, September 1, 2026). Belize and Seychelles licence claims also remain unverified in this review's public-register scan. Those findings should be considered alongside the FCA, CySEC, DFSA, Bappebti, CMF, and other confirmed registrations.

Forex and derivative products carry high leverage; some or all invested capital may be lost. This content is for information only, not investment advice. Verify the broker's current regulation status with the relevant authority's official site before any investment decision.

XTB has no fixed minimum initial deposit for the international entity. The recorded card value is $0, and current UK documentation also states that no minimum deposit applies. The practical amount needed to trade depends on the instrument, position size, leverage, and resulting margin requirement rather than a broker-imposed account funding threshold.
XTB currently centers its retail offer on xStation 5 and the XTB App. The 2026 platform offering does not include MT4, MT5, or cTrader, and no general retail trading API is listed. Web and mobile access cover the main trading functions, including charts, order entry, portfolio monitoring, market data, and account management.
XTB supports bank transfers, payment cards, Skrill, and Neteller in applicable jurisdictions. Funding methods, provider fees, withdrawal thresholds, and processing rules vary between regional entities. International schedules show charges for certain electronic wallets, while banks can impose their own transfer fees. Customers should use the payment schedule attached to the legal entity named in their account agreement.
XTB's Standard-account spread for the international entity starts from 0.5 pip, with most CFD transaction cost included in the floating spread. Real stock and ETF pricing follows separate terms. Current UK documentation applies 0% commission up to EUR 100,000 monthly turnover, then 0.2% with a EUR 10 minimum, plus a 0.5% currency conversion charge where applicable.
