Libertex review 2026: CySEC-regulated CFD trading on Libertex, MT4 and MT5

Libertex is a Limassol, Cyprus-based market maker forex broker founded in 1997. Licensed by CySEC under CIF 164/12, it trades on Libertex, MetaTrader 4, and MetaTrader 5 with retail, Pro, Invest, and Raw Spread accounts. Serves retail and professional clients across 45+ forex pairs, stock CFDs, indices, commodities, cryptocurrencies, ETFs, options, and real-share investments.

What is Libertex?

Libertex is a retail trading brand whose European platform is operated by Indication Investments Ltd. The brand traces its operating history to 1997, while the regulated entity is based in Limassol, Cyprus. The European business uses a market maker model, meaning the firm can deal on its own account. Libertex also operates under separate entities outside the European Union, so the legal counterparty depends on the client’s location.

Which regulators license Libertex?

The European platform is licensed by CySEC (Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission) as a Cyprus Investment Firm. The current CySEC register lists Indication Investments Ltd under CIF licence 164/12, first granted on January 31, 2012. CySEC also lists libertex.org as an approved domain for that entity. Eligible retail clients fall under the Investor Compensation Fund, which covers qualifying claims up to €20,000.

CySEC partially suspended licence 164/12 on August 3, 2021, over suspected regulatory breaches (source: CySEC decision, 2021). CySEC then recalled that suspension on August 23, 2021. The licence appears on the current investment-firm register as of September 19, 2026. A Germany office is registered with BaFin, but that registration is not a separate German investment-firm licence.

Trading platforms

The platform lineup consists of the proprietary Libertex interface plus MT4 and MT5 (MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5). The proprietary platform supports browser and mobile trading, including order placement from charts. MetaTrader adds automated strategies through Expert Advisors, which are scripts that can execute trading rules. The prior data review found no verified cTrader or TradingView integration.

Mobile access is available on iOS and Android. The broker’s official investment page recently displayed app ratings of 4.3 for iOS and 4.5 for Android. A permanent demo account with virtual funds is also part of the product set. MetaTrader support is established, although the earlier server-verification check did not confirm a specific MetaQuotes server name.

Red flags and warning signs

The main risk signal is not a missing EU licence, because licence 164/12 is verifiable. The sharper limitation is regulatory concentration: the European operation relies on one direct investment-firm licence, rather than several major jurisdictions. The historical 2021 suspension also belongs in this review, even though CySEC recalled it within the same month. The broker’s current risk warning says 83% of retail CFD accounts lose money.

A CFD (Contract for Difference) is a leveraged derivative that tracks an underlying market without transferring ownership. Retail leverage reaches 1:30 on major currency pairs under European rules. The broker’s own key information documents state that retail losses cannot exceed funds in the CFD account. Those protections reduce counterparty and leverage risks, but they do not remove trading losses.

Minimum deposit

The minimum first deposit is €100 according to the current Libertex terms and fees page. The minimum trade size on the proprietary platform is €20, while MetaTrader starts from 0.01 lot. A lot is the standardized position size used in forex trading. The deposit threshold sits separately from the margin required for each leveraged position.

Is the broker on any regulator warning lists?

Our September 19, 2026 scan found no current public warning naming Indication Investments Ltd in the CySEC, FCA, or ASIC sources checked. The relevant European entity instead appears in CySEC’s current licensed-firm and approved-domain records. The 2021 partial suspension is a historical enforcement event, not a current warning-list entry. Its recall on August 23, 2021, is also published by CySEC.

CySEC also settled with Indication Investments Ltd for €160,000 in 2020 over possible regulatory violations. That event falls outside the template’s five-year scoring window on the present scan date. It still provides useful regulatory history because it involved retail CFD rules and organizational requirements. Current status should therefore be separated from historical enforcement rather than blended into one label.

What do user complaints say?

Public review data show a mixed but positive aggregate rather than a uniform complaint pattern. The European profile carried a user-aggregate rating of 3.9/5 from 9,534 reviews on September 19, 2026. Recent negative reviews included withdrawal, verification, and account-balance disputes, while positive reviews mentioned platform usability and support. These are user allegations and experiences, not regulator findings.

The aggregate also showed 11% one-star reviews and 60% five-star reviews at the scan date. Individual posts cannot establish whether a disputed withdrawal or balance adjustment was handled correctly. The more reliable check is whether the complaint process, legal entity, and regulator match the account involved. European clients can compare their documentation with Indication Investments Ltd and CySEC records.

Withdrawal problems reported

Withdrawal friction appears in some recent public reviews, but the official fee schedule is more concrete. PayPal withdrawals are free, Skrill and Neteller cost 1%, and card withdrawals carry a €1 fee. SEPA and international bank wires cost 0.5%, with a €2 minimum and €10 maximum. These charges are separate from any bank or payment-provider processing time.

The official fee page also lists a €10 monthly inactivity charge after 180 calendar days without investments, withdrawals, or deposits. Minimum withdrawal values vary by method, with bank transfer listed at €0 and several other methods at €10. Users reporting delays do not prove a systematic failure. They do show why payment method, identity checks, and complaint records matter when assessing a specific case.

How to verify Libertex for yourself

A licence check should match the website, company name, and regulator record before money moves. For the European site, the key identity is Indication Investments Ltd with CySEC licence 164/12. The current CySEC record also lists libertex.org as an approved domain. A BaFin office registration should not be mistaken for a second full broker licence.

  • Search the CySEC investment-firm register for Indication Investments Ltd.
  • Confirm licence number 164/12 and the approved libertex.org domain.
  • Match the account agreement to the same legal entity before funding.
  • Check whether the account is retail or professional, because protections differ.

How does customer support work?

Customer support uses the contact details published by both the broker and CySEC. The verified Cyprus phone number is +357 22 025 100, and the regulator record lists support@help.libertex.org. The site also provides help-center and complaint-procedure documents. A support answer does not replace the written client agreement when fees, withdrawals, or account status are disputed.

Professional classification changes several protections. The official professional-account page states that professional clients waive Investor Compensation Fund coverage and Financial Ombudsman dispute resolution. That distinction matters because higher trading limits can come with reduced retail safeguards. Account categorization therefore affects both leverage and the available redress framework.

Where is the broker actually based?

The European regulated entity is based in Limassol, Cyprus. CySEC lists offices at 116 Gladstonos Street and 10 Agiou Athanasiou in Limassol. The broker also discloses a representative office in Munich, Germany. That office has a BaFin registration, while the investment-firm authorization remains the CySEC licence held by Indication Investments Ltd.

The broader Libertex name also appears outside Europe under different legal entities. That group structure means a user should not assume every Libertex-branded website carries CySEC protection. The legal counterparty shown during registration determines the applicable rules. For European Economic Area clients using libertex.org, the disclosed counterparty is Indication Investments Ltd.

Is Libertex safe? Honest assessment

Libertex combines a verifiable EU licence with a narrower regulatory footprint than multi-jurisdiction brokers. CySEC licence 164/12 is current, retail funds are segregated, and eligible clients receive ICF coverage up to €20,000. The broker also provides negative balance protection and a 50% margin close-out rule for retail CFDs. These are concrete safeguards, not guarantees against market loss.

The main trade-offs are the single direct investment-firm licence, historical enforcement, withdrawal fees, and the 83% retail CFD loss rate. The prior scoring model produced an overall score of 4.7/10, driven partly by its regulator-count methodology. That score does not mean the European entity is unregulated. It reflects the template’s weighting of licence breadth, influence, software, business maturity, and client protections.

Forex and derivative products carry high leverage; some or all invested capital may be lost. This content is for information only, not investment advice. Verify the broker's current regulation status with the relevant authority's official site before any investment decision.

CySEC partially suspended the licence in August 2021, then recalled that suspension later the same month. That historical action should be distinguished from the broker's current licensed status.
Libertex did not appear in a current public warning naming Indication Investments Ltd in the CySEC, FCA, or ASIC sources checked on September 19, 2026. CySEC did take historical action, including a 2020 settlement and a partial licence suspension on August 3, 2021. CySEC recalled the suspension on August 23, 2021.
Libertex's European licence can be checked in the CySEC investment-firm register. Search for Indication Investments Ltd, confirm licence number 164/12, and verify that libertex.org appears among the approved domains. The account agreement should name the same legal entity.
