AETOS review 2026: MT4/MT5 trading with a $250 minimum and unresolved 2025-2026 licence changes
AETOS is a Port Vila-based market maker forex and CFD broker brand founded in 2007. Its Mauritius and Cayman licences are inactive, its Vanuatu licence is absent from the current VFSC list, and its Australian entity became Zero Markets Australia; the AETOS website still publishes MT4 and MT5 access. Its current product page lists 27 forex pairs plus metals, energy, and index CFDs for individual clients.
What is AETOS?
AETOS is a forex and CFD (Contract for Difference, a derivative that tracks an asset without ownership) brand founded in 2007. The broker's current headquarters is in Port Vila, Vanuatu, and FXSharp classifies the business model as a market maker. The group historically used separate entities in Australia, the United Kingdom, Mauritius, the Cayman Islands, and Vanuatu. Historical Vanuatu disclosures identify AETOS Markets (V) Ltd as a wholly owned group subsidiary. Those historical entities no longer map cleanly to a single current AETOS regulatory perimeter.
The Australian history illustrates that change. The broker's own client portal states that the company became Zero Markets Australia Pty Ltd on 22 May 2026. The portal says AFSL 313016 remained with the renamed entity. That makes the Australian licence a current Zero Markets record rather than a clear current AETOS-brand authorization.
Is AETOS regulated? Verification check
The current AETOS regulatory picture is not verified as active under the brand. The Vanuatu Financial Services Commission (VFSC) listed AETOS Markets (V) Ltd, company number 700450, as active in May 2025. On the 21 September 2026 scan, that entity no longer appeared on the VFSC's current Financial Dealers Licensee List. The absence means the earlier Vanuatu record should not be presented as a current active licence.
Mauritius and Cayman records show explicit endings. The Financial Services Commission Mauritius states that AETOS Markets (M) Ltd surrendered licence GB23202270. The licence terminated on 13 November 2025 (source: FSC Mauritius public notice, 18 June 2026). This means the Mauritius licence is historical rather than current. The Cayman Islands Gazette records AETOS Capital Group International Ltd licence 1615633 as revoked. The revocation took effect on 17 March 2023 (source: Cayman Islands Monetary Authority notice, 6 April 2023).
The UK structure also ended. Companies House records AETOS Capital Group (UK) Limited, company number 07972720, as dissolved on 4 November 2025 after a voluntary strike-off. The historical FCA (UK Financial Conduct Authority) reference is 592778, but current AETOS-branded authorization under that entity was not verified. The dissolved company cannot be treated as a current operating UK entity.
What trading platforms are available?
Trading platform support remains centered on MT4 and MT5 (MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5). AETOS's own platform pages describe MT5 for Windows and mobile devices, including iPhone, iPad, and Android. MT5 also supports Expert Advisors, automated scripts used to place or manage trades. The broker lists both MT4 and MT5, while independent MetaQuotes server verification was not completed.
The current product material also describes micro-lot dealing from 0.01 lot on MT5. A lot is the standardized trade size used in forex and CFD markets. Platform availability does not resolve which legal entity holds a client's account. The account agreement remains the document that connects platform access to regulation.
Red flags and warning signs
The main warning signs come from regulatory transitions rather than a separate fraud finding. The regulatory history shows several licence or entity changes within a short period, including the Mauritius termination, UK dissolution, Cayman revocation, and Australian rebrand. The current VFSC active list also omits the previously listed Vanuatu entity. These are public-record facts, not proof that the broker committed fraud.
- VFSC 700450 appeared active in 2025 but is absent from the current active list.
- FSC Mauritius GB23202270 terminated effective 13 November 2025.
- CIMA 1615633 was revoked effective 17 March 2023.
- The UK company was dissolved on 4 November 2025.
- The Australian AETOS entity became Zero Markets Australia on 22 May 2026.
What is the minimum deposit?
The initial minimum deposit is $250. AETOS's funding material for the General account also states a 250 USD initial amount and 50 USD for later deposits. The same material identifies Skrill as a funding route. Bank transfer and Visa/Mastercard are additionally listed. Payment availability can vary by country and contracting entity.
Maximum leverage is listed at 1:200. Leverage means controlling a larger position with a smaller amount of margin, which is the capital set aside for the trade. Historical Australian pages show different leverage limits because Australian retail rules apply separate caps. That jurisdictional difference makes the legal entity more important than a headline leverage figure.
Are there regulator warning-list entries?
The warning-list scan did not identify a separate AETOS-specific FCA warning entry. It also found no CySEC (Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission) warning entry on 21 September 2026. That finding does not convert an inactive, dissolved, revoked, or unverified registration into an active licence. Regulator warning lists and regulator licence registers answer different questions.
The stronger public-record signals here are the licence-status changes themselves. FSC Mauritius published the surrender notice, the Cayman authorities published the 2023 revocation record, and Companies House published the UK dissolution. The current VFSC dealer list provides the present Vanuatu check. Each finding should be read at the named-entity level rather than at brand level.
What do user complaints say?
User feedback is sparse and should not be treated as a statistical sample. During the 21 September 2026 scan, the indexed user-aggregate result available to this review showed 2.4/5 from 7 reviews. One recent review alleged withdrawal delays, but that individual allegation was not independently verified. Seven reviews are too few to establish a dependable complaint rate or broad service pattern.
The safer interpretation is to separate anecdotal feedback from documented records. Public regulator and corporate filings establish the entity changes described above. User comments can highlight questions worth checking, such as withdrawal processing. They do not establish misconduct on their own. No individual complaint is treated here as a verified regulatory finding.
How to verify the broker for yourself
Licence verification starts with the exact legal entity shown in the account agreement, not the AETOS logo. A regulator search should match both the entity name and licence number. A current result should also show an active status that covers the relevant service. Historical or renamed entities should not be substituted for the company actually receiving client funds.
- Check the contract for the legal company name and registered address.
- Search VFSC 700450, FSC Mauritius GB23202270, CIMA 1615633, and historical FCA 592778.
- Confirm whether the status is active, surrendered, revoked, dissolved, or no longer listed.
- For Australian references, confirm that AFSL 313016 now belongs to Zero Markets Australia Pty Ltd.
- Compare the regulator record with the entity named on deposit and withdrawal instructions.
How does customer support work?
Customer support remains available through the AETOS web infrastructure and published contact channels. The email contact is cs_markets@aetoscg.com. Older product disclosure material describes escalation from customer service to a compliance team when a complaint remains unresolved. Current response-time statistics and multilingual coverage were not verified during this review.
Support answers about regulation should be checked against the public register. A statement that the group was licensed historically does not answer which entity currently holds an account. The useful support question is therefore operational. The company name on the client agreement, payment beneficiary, and withdrawal documentation should match the regulator record.
Where is the broker actually based?
The current AETOS headquarters is in Port Vila, Vanuatu, and Vanuatu is the broker's home country. Historical group operations were broader. Australia previously used AETOS Capital Group Pty Ltd, while the UK used AETOS Capital Group (UK) Limited. Mauritius used AETOS Markets (M) Ltd, and Cayman used AETOS Capital Group International Ltd.
Those locations now have different statuses. The Australian entity became Zero Markets Australia, the UK company dissolved, the Mauritius licence terminated, and the Cayman licence was revoked. The earlier Vanuatu entity is absent from the current VFSC active list. The resulting structure is why a current account contract carries more regulatory meaning than an old group office address.
Recovery options if you've already deposited
Recovery routes depend on the payment method, contracting entity, and customer's jurisdiction. Common channels include the broker's complaint procedure, card disputes, bank recalls, and regulator complaints. Ombudsman routes and civil proceedings can also apply where available. Eligibility, deadlines, and evidence requirements differ by country and payment provider.
AETOS's historical Vanuatu product disclosure material described escalation to the VFSC after internal complaint attempts. The current VFSC active list no longer shows company number 700450, so the regulator should first confirm what complaint jurisdiction applies. Transaction records, account statements, correspondence, and the signed client agreement are the core documents used to identify the responsible legal entity.

Is AETOS safe? Honest assessment
AETOS has a long operating history and still publishes MT4 and MT5 trading infrastructure, but its current regulatory position requires entity-level verification. The public record shows multiple material licence changes between 2023 and 2026. The Mauritius licence ended, the Cayman licence was revoked, the UK company dissolved, and the Australian entity changed its name to Zero Markets Australia.
The unresolved point is the current Vanuatu position. AETOS Markets (V) Ltd appeared on the VFSC list in 2025. Company number 700450 is absent from the current list checked on 21 September 2026. The available evidence therefore does not support presenting the current AETOS brand as actively regulated under that historical record. Current contracting-entity verification is the key unresolved issue.
