Angel One review 2026: Indian multi-asset broking with TradingView, Trade One, and SmartAPI

Angel One (NSE: ANGELONE) is a Mumbai-based multi-asset stock broker founded in 1996. Registered with SEBI under INZ000161534, it offers trading through Angel One App, Trade One, TradingView, and SmartAPI with individual, HUF, corporate, and NRI accounts. Serves retail clients across Indian equities, equity derivatives, commodities, mutual funds, ETFs, bonds, and IPOs; its current risk policy marks the currency segment inactive.

What is Angel One?

Angel One is an Indian listed multi-asset stock broker that began operations in 1996. The firm is headquartered in Mumbai, India and operates as Angel One Limited. Its business covers equities, derivatives, commodities, mutual funds, bonds, IPO access, advisory services, depository services, and algorithmic trading infrastructure. The company says its digital transition began in 2019 after decades as a traditional brokerage business.

The distinction between securities brokerage and forex brokerage matters here. Angel One has exchange membership covering currency derivatives, but its current Risk Management Policy states that the currency segment is inactive. This means the broker does not currently provide a conventional retail spot-forex or CFD (Contract for Difference) trading setup comparable with international forex brokers. FXSharp therefore lists leverage and spread-from values as not applicable.

Which regulators license Angel One?

Angel One is registered with SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) as a stock broker under INZ000161534. SEBI's registered-intermediary database listed that registration with perpetual validity on September 19, 2026. The same record identifies Angel One Limited and lists National Stock Exchange of India, Bombay Stock Exchange, Metropolitan Stock Exchange, and clearing memberships.

The firm also holds SEBI investment-adviser registration INA000008172, shown with perpetual validity in the regulator's September 2026 database. CDSL (Central Depository Services Limited) lists Angel One as a Depository Participant under IN-DP-384-2018. Its CDSL entry was updated September 17, 2026 and identifies the entity as a listed public company serving retail clients.

These registrations establish regulated securities activity in India. They do not establish an FCA, ASIC, CySEC, or similar international retail-forex authorization. The current profile is therefore best understood as an Indian securities broker with currency-derivative permissions, while the broker's own policy currently marks that currency segment inactive.

Trading platforms

Trading platforms include the Angel One App, Trade One, TradingView integration, and SmartAPI. Trade One is the firm's web trading workspace, combining watchlists, charts, orders, positions, market depth, and option-chain tools. Angel One also supports direct account connection to TradingView, allowing eligible orders to be placed from TradingView charts.

SmartAPI is the broker's REST-style application programming interface for automated trading, portfolio management, and live market data. From April 1, 2026, SmartAPI order execution requires a registered static IP under changes linked to NSE retail-algorithm rules. The current product materials do not list MT4, MT5, or cTrader, and the MetaTrader verification status is therefore unavailable.

Red flags and warning signs

Red flags in this review concern regulatory history and product availability, not an absence of registration. Three findings deserve separation because they describe different issues:

  • SEBI issued Angel One a regulatory warning on August 22, 2023 after finding failures involving diligence and acceptance of orders from unauthorized individuals (source: SEBI Order, August 22, 2023).
  • SEBI subsequently published settlement orders involving the firm in September 2024, October 2024, November 2025, and June 2026 (source: SEBI Enforcement Orders, 2024-2026).
  • The broker's current Risk Management Policy repeatedly states that its currency segment is inactive, which materially limits its relevance for readers seeking forex trading.

The 2023 order did not impose the three-month suspension initially recommended during earlier proceedings. SEBI instead issued a warning directing the firm to exercise care and diligence. Settlement orders also should not be described as criminal findings or treated automatically as admissions beyond what the respective orders state.

Minimum deposit

The minimum deposit is ₹0. Angel One advertises free regular account opening, while separate charges can arise from trading, Demat maintenance, depository transactions, pledging, and other services. The ₹0 figure is therefore an account-entry figure rather than a promise of cost-free trading.

Funding methods currently include UPI and net banking. Angel One states that UPI and net-banking deposits update the trading balance instantly when completed successfully. UPI transactions can use applications such as Google Pay, while the funding bank account must comply with the broker's registered-bank requirements.

Is the broker on any regulator warning lists?

The warning-list question requires a distinction between an unauthorized-firm warning and enforcement against a regulated firm. Angel One is not presented in the reviewed records as an unlicensed entity claiming false SEBI authorization. SEBI's live intermediary database instead shows stock-broker registration INZ000161534 with perpetual validity.

SEBI did issue a formal regulatory warning in 2023 following proceedings concerning conduct from earlier periods (source: SEBI Order, August 22, 2023). Separate SEBI settlement orders were published in 2024, 2025, and 2026. Those enforcement records are material to due diligence, but they do not negate the current registration shown in SEBI's September 2026 database.

What do user complaints say?

User complaints provide a different signal from regulatory registration. CDSL's Depository Participant database reported 81 complaints received, 72 resolved, and 9 pending for the latest displayed reporting period as of September 17, 2026. The same database shows larger historical complaint totals for prior periods, alongside resolution statistics.

A current mobile app-store aggregate also showed a 4.4/5 rating from 751 ratings on the September 20, 2026 scan date. Individual review text varies and does not establish regulatory misconduct. Complaint counts are more useful when read with account scale, resolution rates, exchange records, and regulator findings rather than as a standalone quality verdict.

Withdrawal problems reported

Withdrawal problems were not established as a systemic regulatory finding in the primary records reviewed for this update. The SEBI materials identified above concern compliance, inspections, historical conduct, and settlement proceedings rather than a regulator finding that the broker systematically withheld retail withdrawals.

Operationally, investors should distinguish withdrawals from securities settlement. Funds held in the trading account move through the linked banking framework, while securities in a Demat account follow depository rules. Depository Participant charges can also apply when delivery shares are sold or transferred. The current official schedule lists a ₹20 plus GST DP charge per ISIN transaction for equity delivery debits.

How to verify the license yourself

License verification is a direct check of the regulator's entity name, registration number, and validity status. For Angel One, the useful identifiers are INZ000161534 for stock broking, INA000008172 for investment advisory, and IN-DP-384-2018 for the depository-participant relationship.

  1. Search SEBI's registered-intermediary database for Angel One Limited and INZ000161534.
  2. Confirm that the entity name, Mumbai address, exchange memberships, and validity match the broker's disclosure.
  3. Check CDSL's Depository Participant database for IN-DP-384-2018 and review complaints and disciplinary-action fields.
  4. Review SEBI's enforcement database separately, because an active license and past enforcement can exist at the same time.

This procedure avoids treating a registration number shown on a website as sufficient proof by itself.

How does customer support work?

Customer support runs through the broker's app, support channels, telephone lines, email, and ticket-based service processes. The contact details are support@angelone.in and +91 22 4000 3600. Angel One's regulatory disclosures separately publish compliance and grievance contacts for regulated issues.

Account administration varies by client type. Individual users can complete many changes digitally, while joint, HUF, corporate, and other non-individual accounts can require forms and manual verification. Angel One's current support documentation also states that derivative-segment activation for non-individual accounts requires a support ticket plus income evidence. Minor and NRI accounts are excluded from that segment-activation process.

Where is the broker actually based?

The broker is based in Mumbai, not an offshore forex jurisdiction. Angel One Limited lists its registered office at Ackruti Star, Central Road, MIDC, Andheri East, Mumbai 400093. SEBI and CDSL records show the same entity and substantially the same registered-office location.

The company was incorporated in 1996 and is publicly listed in India. Its official site reports more than 3.8 crore registered users, while FXSharp's FY26 research records 6.8 million NSE active clients. Those numbers measure different populations and should not be treated as interchangeable. The scale is predominantly Indian, which is why FXSharp lists India as the main market.

Is Angel One safe? Honest assessment

Angel One is a currently registered Indian securities broker with publicly verifiable SEBI and CDSL credentials. Its stock-broker registration has perpetual validity, and its ownership, listed-company status, office address, and regulatory identifiers are transparent. Those facts distinguish it from an anonymous or unauthorized offshore operation.

The main limitation for a forex-focused reader is product scope. The broker's own September 2026 materials mark the currency segment as currently inactive, while MT4, MT5, cTrader, retail spot forex spreads, and conventional forex leverage are not part of the verified offering. Past SEBI enforcement also remains relevant, including the 2023 regulatory warning and later settlement orders.

The practical assessment is therefore specific: Angel One is a regulated Indian multi-asset securities broker, but it is not currently a conventional retail forex venue. Its regulatory history should be reviewed alongside its active registrations rather than interpreted as proof that those registrations are absent.

Forex and derivative products carry high leverage; some or all invested capital may be lost. This content is for information only, not investment advice. Verify the broker's current regulation status with the relevant authority's official site before any investment decision.

Frequently asked questions

Angel One is a regulated Indian securities broker. SEBI listed Angel One Limited under stock-broker registration INZ000161534 with perpetual validity in September 2026, while CDSL lists depository registration IN-DP-384-2018. The firm also holds investment-adviser registration INA000008172. These registrations cover Indian securities activities rather than conventional international retail spot-forex brokerage.
Angel One is not an unregistered anonymous broker in the records reviewed. SEBI and CDSL currently identify Angel One Limited as a registered intermediary. SEBI did issue a regulatory warning in August 2023 and later published settlement orders. Those enforcement records warrant review, but they do not erase the active registrations shown in September 2026.
Angel One has documented SEBI enforcement history. SEBI issued a regulatory warning on August 22, 2023 concerning diligence and acceptance of orders from unauthorized individuals. SEBI also published settlement orders involving Angel One in September 2024, October 2024, November 2025, and June 2026. The firm's SEBI stock-broker registration nevertheless remained listed with perpetual validity in September 2026.
Angel One license verification starts with SEBI registration INZ000161534. Search SEBI's registered-intermediary database for that number and confirm the Angel One Limited entity name, Mumbai address, exchange memberships, and validity. Then check INA000008172 in SEBI's investment-adviser records and IN-DP-384-2018 in CDSL's Depository Participant database. Review enforcement records separately from license status.
Angel One currently marks its currency segment as inactive in its official Risk Management Policy. The firm has exchange registrations that include currency-derivative permissions, but current materials do not establish an active conventional retail spot-forex service. FXSharp therefore lists forex spread and leverage as N/A, with no verified MT4, MT5, or cTrader offering.
