ActivTrades review 2026: 0.5-pip spreads, $0 minimum deposit, MT4, MT5, ActivTrader and TradingView
ActivTrades is a London-based multi-asset forex and CFD broker founded in 2001. Licensed and supervised by the FCA, SCB, BACEN/CVM, and CMVM under multiple registrations, it trades on ActivTrader, MT4, MT5, and TradingView with Individual, Professional, and Islamic accounts. Serves retail and professional clients across 40+ forex pairs, indices, shares, ETFs, commodities, bonds, and crypto CFDs.
What is ActivTrades?
ActivTrades is a multi-asset forex and CFD broker that has operated since 2001. The group is headquartered in London and serves clients through separate regulated entities in several jurisdictions. ActivTrades PLC is the principal UK company, while regional entities cover markets including Portugal, Brazil, The Bahamas, and Mauritius.
The firm combines forex trading with CFDs (Contracts for Difference, instruments that track an underlying market without direct ownership). Its product range covers currencies, indices, shares, ETFs, commodities, bonds, and crypto CFDs. The group uses both third-party platforms and its own ActivTrader interface rather than relying on a single trading system.
Which regulators license ActivTrades?
ActivTrades operates through several regulatory entities, but the level of investor protection differs by jurisdiction. The strongest verified authorization is ActivTrades PLC under the FCA (UK Financial Conduct Authority), with FRN 434413. The FCA record identifies ActivTrades PLC as the regulated UK entity.
Eligible claims connected with an FCA-regulated investment firm can fall within the FSCS (Financial Services Compensation Scheme). The current investment compensation limit is up to £85,000 per eligible person, per firm, subject to the scheme's eligibility rules and the regulated activity involved.
The group also discloses ActivTrades Corp under the SCB (Securities Commission of The Bahamas). In Portugal, ActivMarkets Empresa de Investimento, S.A. operates under the CMVM (Portuguese Securities Market Commission). The Brazilian company appears in records of BACEN (Central Bank of Brazil) and is supervised by the CVM (Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission).
The broker also discloses ActivTrades Markets Ltd as regulated by the Mauritius FSC (Financial Services Commission). The Mauritius license claim could not be independently verified in the regulator record set used for the 2026-09-21 review scan, so it remains classified as unverified rather than confirmed.
A separate historical issue concerns former Luxembourg company ActivTrades Europe S.A. The CSSF (Luxembourg financial regulator) published in April 2025 that it had imposed a EUR 14,000 administrative fine for AML/CFT compliance breaches. The decision was dated 24 December 2024, and the former entity had already ceased Luxembourg activity before publication (source: CSSF administrative sanction published 3 April 2025).
Trading platforms
Trading platforms at ActivTrades include ActivTrader, MT4, MT5, and TradingView. MT4 and MT5 mean MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5, widely used retail trading platforms that support indicators, automated strategies, and configurable order management. ActivTrader is the broker's own browser and mobile platform.
MetaTrader 4
MT4 supports forex, indices, commodities, bonds, ETFs, and cryptocurrency instruments available within its product configuration. The platform also supports Expert Advisors, which are automated trading programs written for the MetaTrader environment. Stock derivatives are more restricted on MT4 than on newer platform options.
MetaTrader 5
MT5 expands the available market structure and supports stocks alongside spot forex, indices, bonds, ETFs, commodities, and cryptocurrencies. Demo accounts normally use netting mode, where positions in the same instrument are combined, although hedging can be enabled under supported conditions.
ActivTrader and TradingView
ActivTrader is a proprietary platform, meaning ActivTrades develops and controls the trading interface itself. TradingView adds browser-based charting and account integration for traders who prefer its analysis environment. This four-platform structure separates ActivTrades from MT-only account models.
Account types
Account types cover retail, professional, Islamic, and demonstration use cases. The main live structure is an Individual account, while Professional status applies only when a client satisfies the applicable eligibility requirements. Account conditions can differ according to the legal entity holding the account.
- Individual: standard retail trading account for eligible clients.
- Professional: higher-limit account subject to professional-client qualification rules.
- Islamic: swap-free structure subject to specific instrument restrictions and approval.
- Demo: simulation account using virtual funds for platform testing.
The Islamic account removes conventional overnight swap charges from many eligible positions. Swap is the financing adjustment applied when a leveraged position remains open overnight. Cash indices are excluded, while cryptocurrency and stock positions can still carry applicable charges. A five-day grace period applies before administration fees can arise on certain eligible positions.
Minimum deposit
The minimum deposit is $0 for the standard global, UK, and European account routes covered by the broker's current funding information. This means account activation does not require a fixed initial funding threshold in those channels. Certain jurisdictions can apply a USD 250 minimum instead, so the account entity matters before funding.
A zero minimum does not change position margin requirements. Margin is the amount of account equity reserved to support a leveraged trade. The required amount depends on the instrument, position size, leverage schedule, and regulatory entity.
Deposit and withdrawal methods
Deposit and withdrawal methods include bank transfer, Visa or Mastercard, Skrill, Neteller, and PayPal. The broker states that deposits themselves do not carry an ActivTrades funding fee, although banks and payment providers can impose their own charges. Available methods can vary by jurisdiction and account currency.
Withdrawal requests are generally processed within 1 business day. Bank transfers can then require 3-5 business days to reach the receiving account because bank settlement adds extra processing time. A bank-transfer withdrawal charge of GBP 9, or its currency equivalent, can apply in certain cases.
Tradeable instruments
Tradeable instruments span more than forex, which is why ActivTrades functions as a multi-asset broker. The verified product set includes 40+ forex pairs, indices, shares, ETFs, commodities, bonds, and crypto CFDs. Availability depends on the platform and legal entity.
Platform selection changes instrument access. MT4 has more limited stock functionality, while MT5 and ActivTrader support a broader collection of equity-related instruments. This distinction matters when a trader wants one account environment for both currencies and stock-linked products.
Spread and commission structure
The spread and commission structure starts with forex spreads from an average of 0.5 pip on major currency pairs. A spread is the difference between the bid and ask price, while a pip is the standard small price increment used for most forex pairs. Actual spreads change with liquidity and market conditions.
ActivTrades states that it does not charge a separate trading commission on most forex, index, commodity, bond, cryptocurrency CFD, share, and ETF products. The economic cost therefore comes mainly through the spread for many instruments. Exceptions exist, including some Brazilian share and spot ETF transactions and certain specialist arrangements.
Spreads can widen around major economic announcements, market openings, or periods of reduced liquidity. A 0.5-pip starting figure therefore describes the lower end of normal pricing rather than a fixed execution cost on every trade.
Leverage and margin requirements
Leverage and margin requirements range from approximately 1:30 for protected retail structures to as much as 1:1000 under certain offshore product schedules. Leverage means controlling a position larger than the cash margin posted in the account. Regulatory entity and instrument type determine the available ratio.
UK and European retail rules impose lower leverage ceilings than offshore entities. Professional classifications can receive higher limits where eligibility rules permit them. Mauritius instrument schedules show leverage reaching 1:1000 for some lower-size positions, followed by progressively lower ratios as position size increases.
The margin stop-out level, where the system starts closing positions automatically, can range from 30% to 50% depending on the regulatory framework. This tiered structure means the headline maximum leverage does not apply uniformly to every account, instrument, or position size.
Customer support
Customer support is available through ActivTrades' direct service channels, including telephone and email contact. The UK contact record lists ActivTrades PLC in London, and the broker operates regional offices for several regulated markets. Formal complaints can also be submitted in writing to the UK complaints department.
Regulated entity selection remains relevant when raising an account dispute. A UK client deals with the FCA-regulated entity and the complaint routes attached to that authorization. Clients of offshore or non-UK entities follow the procedures of the legal company stated in their account agreement.
Demo account and onboarding flow
The demo account is a simulated trading environment funded with virtual money. ActivTrades provides demo access for ActivTrader, MT4, and MT5, allowing users to test platform functions without placing live capital at risk. Simulation does not reproduce every effect of real market liquidity or live execution.
Registered demo accounts have a 30-day trial period before expiration. Existing clients can create additional demo accounts through the client area. Each simulator can be configured with parameters such as platform, account currency, virtual balance, and leverage.
Live onboarding requires identity verification under KYC (Know Your Customer) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) rules. Typical documents include identification, a selfie, and recent proof of address. Additional proof of funds or identity documents can be requested depending on jurisdiction.

ActivTrades verdict: pros, cons, and the catch
The ActivTrades verdict rests on a mix of established operations, multiple platforms, and jurisdiction-dependent protection. The firm has operated since 2001, while its UK company carries an FCA authorization under FRN 434413. Retail protections include negative balance protection and segregated client funds under applicable regulated structures.
The trading setup provides four platform choices, a $0 standard minimum deposit, and spreads starting from 0.5 pip on major forex pairs. The main limitation is that account conditions change materially by jurisdiction. Leverage, compensation arrangements, stop-out thresholds, payment terms, and available protections are not identical across entities.
The unresolved Mauritius verification point should also remain visible. The broker discloses Mauritius FSC regulation, but that claim was not independently confirmed in the public-record verification used for this review. The former Luxembourg entity also received the EUR 14,000 CSSF AML/CFT sanction described above, while the CSSF stated that its closure decision was unrelated to that sanction.
